Lot 22
A Pouch Badge or Waist Plate Ornament of the Scinde Irregular Horse
A silvered device, the scroll inscribed with the regimental title, above a cartouche bearing battle honours Cutchee, Meanee and Hyderabad, flanked by oakleaf sprays bearing scrolls for Mooltan, Punjaub and Goojerat. Fixings now removed.
Note: This badge may have been common to both the 1st and 2nd Scinde Irregular Horse, who shared these battle honours, the three last not having been awarded until 1853. In 1885 the remaining SIH regiments were re-numbered as the 5th and 6th Bombay Cavalry, taking the titles of Scinde Horse and Jacob's Horse respectively.
